Wenty’s Sporting Success

Wenty Leagues hosted an array of dignitaries, sports people and the

best local sporting teams on Sunday 1 December to celebrate the

successes of Wenty Leagues sport in 2013.

The guest speaker of the night was Rugby League great Steve Edge

who was joined by local Council members, representatives and the

Wenty Leagues Board of Directors including Club President, Ian McCann.

Over a three course meal, the night paid tribute to Wenty’s best sports

people,  teams and clubs of the past year. Winners of the night were as

follows:

Sportsman of the Year:
Michael Gregory – Wenty Leagues Squash Club

Sportswoman of the Year:
Lee Benson – Wenty Leagues Women’s Bowling Club

Young Sportsperson of the Year:
Michael Pham – Wenty Leagues Squash Club

Team of the Year:
Ron Massey Cup – Wentworthville District Rugby League Football Club

Young Team of the Year:
Under 13 Division 1 – Wentworthville United Junior Rugby League Football

Coach of the Year:
Sharon Nasser – Wenty Leagues Netball Club

Club of the Year:
Wentworthville United Junior Rugby League Football Club

Unsung Hero:
Leon Plotkans – Wenty Leagues Golf Club
