Girl Guides Get Baking

by Luke Fuller | May 06,2012

The Toongabbie Girl Guides were recent recipients of a much needed

$9,000 grant from Wenty Leagues.

The Girl Guides used the grant to make vital upgrades to their club hall

and kitchen. With the $9,000, the Girl Guides were able to upgrade an

electrical box, purchase two industrial ovens with stovetops, and install

ceiling fans and light-up safety exit signs.

The $9,000 grant has provided the initial framework for further upgrades

which are estimated to take three years to complete. It is hoped the hall

will become an affordable venue for small family or community functions.

The members of the Toongabbie Girl Guides, aged from as young as five,

spend time learning a range of skills including cooking, camping and craft

while working on team building, time management, leadership and

responsibility.
