‘PASS IT ON’ FOR DO SOMETHING DAY

The Wenty Leagues community is giving their best for Do Something Day and will Pass IT ON, an initiative encouraging others to give back through donations of sports equipment to Youth Off The Streets.

Wenty Leagues is inspiring members, guests, staff and sub-clubs to donate gently used or new sports equipment during the Do Something Day campaign. From now to Wednesday 24 July, a box will sit at Smith Street reception that will fill up with sporting equipment donated from the community. At the end of the Do Something Day all donations will go to Youth Off the Streets, Wentworthville to create a positive and noticeable impact to the lives of young people in the community.

“Our Wentworthville site is crucial in helping the young people of Western Sydney.” Says Father Chris Riley, CEO and Founder at Youth Off The Streets, “We run schools, drug and alcohol counselling, Aboriginal programs and mental health services from Merrylands and all our kids love sport.  Sport, physical health and physical education is a very important part of all of our programs and thanks to the generous support Wenty Leagues Club and its patrons, my kids will be able to play with a variety of new equipment.”

The “Do Something Day” campaign aims to drive active participation in giving or volunteering by individuals or as an organisation to do something for someone, or something else with the aim of making a visible impact in the community. This campaign is in its second year the and joins News Corp, ClubsNSW and the “Do Something Near You”.

The campaign has been ongoing since Monday 18 June with the official “Do Something Day” on Wednesday 19 July where major clubs across Australia will become actively involved in giving back to the community.

Wenty Leagues would love to see the community give back and get involved for Do Something Day. Wenty Leagues CEO, Glenn Kovacs, says a small gesture of kindness goes a long way.

“Whether it be a donation of a ball or pair of footy boots, I encourage the community to go above and beyond during Do Something Day and give their best through acts of kindness. Even a smile to brighten up someone’s day.”

Wenty Leagues and the community will be using the campaign hashtags #giveyourbest and #dosomethingday so that others can get behind the initiative and give back to the community.
